THE FOUNDER

Person with short curly blond hair smiling, wearing a black blazer.

Rev. Dr. Elise Saulsberry founded Remnant Community Outreach with a clear conviction: people impacted by domestic violence deserve more than crisis intervention. They deserve safety, dignity, access, advocacy, and a community that refuses to look away. Her vision for Remnant was built around closing the gaps that too often leave survivors and young people navigating complicated systems alone.

Her leadership brings together faith, community engagement, education, advocacy, and practical support. Through Remnant, she has created a framework that connects people to resources through Bridge, equips communities through Catalyst, and advances systems-level change through Impact. At the heart of that work is a commitment to helping youth, young adults, families, survivors, and institutions recognize harm earlier, respond more effectively, and build healthier pathways forward.

Rev. Dr. Saulsberry also believes that faith and community institutions have a responsibility to become safer places for people experiencing abuse. Her work challenges harmful narratives, strengthens survivor-centered responses, and creates space for difficult conversations about domestic violence, spiritual harm, healthy relationships, and the systems that can either protect people or further silence them.

For her, Remnant is more than an organization. It is a commitment to what remains after hardship: purpose, possibility, strength, and the opportunity to rebuild. Her vision is for communities where survivors are believed, young people are equipped before violence begins, institutions are prepared to respond without causing further harm, and no one has to choose between their safety and their sense of belonging.

“We cannot change what we are unwilling to confront. Remnant exists to confront harm, strengthen communities, and help people move from survival toward safety, dignity, and possibility.”
