FOUNDER SPOTLIGHT

 Rev. Dr. Elise Saulsberry is a Memphis-born theologian, mother, author, advocate, survivor, Founder of Remnant Community Outreach, and CEO of The Gravity Firm, LLC. Her nonprofit work sits at the intersection of safety, justice, and lived experience; and it is rounded in the belief that every person deserves dignity, safety, and access to care. As a survivor of domestic violence herself, Dr. Elise brings both professional expertise and personal understanding to the work of protecting others who are navigating DV/IPV.

Holding a PhD in Psychology and Theology and a Master of Divinity in Evangelism and Church Planting, Dr. Elise brings a unique perspective to community advocacy. Grounded in Black Liberation and Womanist theological traditions, her work centers the humanity and self-determination of people who have historically been marginalized, silenced, or underserved, including survivors of abuse whose stories are too often met with judgment instead of care.

Throughout her career, she has worked across public health initiatives, research, policy, and advocacy efforts. Dr. Elise has contributed to faith, inclusivity, and DEI initiatives, Substance Use Disorder, advancing health equity (including HIV/AIDS, reproductive, maternal, and mental health; racial justice, violence prevention, and human rights). Her leadership and service have supported community and public health coalitions throughout the Mid-South, nationally, and internationally.

Remnant Community Outreach was founded from her belief and her own experience: that survivors deserve more than awareness. They deserve access, opportunity, and systems that create real pathways to safety and abundance. Through education, advocacy, and community engagement, Remnant works to address real world challenges that impact safety, stability, and quality of life.
